If
you are struggling with an addiction, whether you want to admit
it or not you are suffering. You are suffering from the consequences
of your addiction as well as from something which preceded it.
When your friends and family tell you that you need to stop
this behavior, it sounds almost as if they are telling you to
stop breathing.
If
you were like me you cannot imagine your life without your using
or acting out, as that is possibly the only thing which allows
you to feel comfortable with yourself. My name is Pastor John
Smith, please take your time go through this site check out
the various links I trust that God will bless your heart as
you do.
Understanding
Drug & Alcohol abuse, and addiction
Many
people experiment with drugs for many different reasons. Some
first try drugs out of curiosity just to have a good time because
their friends are doing it while some people do it in an effort
to improve their athletic performance. Many others use to ease
another problem such as stress, anxiety or depression. Some
have the mindset that their use doesn't automatically lead to
abuse and there is no specific level at which drug use moves
from casual to problematic.
It
varies by individual. Drug abuse and addiction is less about
the amount of substance consumed or the frequency and more to
do with the consequences of drug use. No matter how often or
how little you're consuming, if your drug use is causing problems
in your life at work, school, home or in your relationships,
you likely have a drug abuse or addiction problem. But I want
to let you know that there is hope, there is help available
and that you are not alone. We care about you.
Why
do some drug users become addicted, while others dont?
As
with many other conditions and diseases, vulnerability to addiction
differs from person to person. Your genes, mental health, family
and social environment all play a role in addiction. Risk factors
that increase your vulnerability include:
- Family history of addiction
- Abuse, neglect, or other traumatic experiences in childhood
- Mental disorders such as depression and anxiety
- Early use of drugs
- Method of administrationsmoking or injecting
a drug may increase its addictive potential
I want to let you know that you are not alone, on Sunday
night September 26, 1993, Jesus gave me my life back. I was
2 hours away from taking my life because of a drug & alcohol
addiction that cost thousands of dollars a month and had me
bound. After many years of abuse and hurting multitudes of people,
God said "Son I have a purpose and a plan for your life".
That night He miraculously in a supernatural way set me free.
If you are a pastor and would like to have me share my testimony
at your church please feel free to contact
me for more information. My goal this year is
to go into the local churches and share what God has done in
my life and reach out to the hurting and the lost and see many
lives changed.
Jesus
Christ has done something about your problem. He came shed His
Blood on the Cross of Calvary so you can be delivered from such
problems and help enable you to gain self-control, the same
Jesus that set me free my friend wants to do the same for you.
